Chitika RPU for WordPress Plugin

Aziz

Free (GNU GPL v3)

0.9.1

This simple WordPress Plugin lets you insert the Chitika RPU (Related Product Unit) into your WordPress blog instantly without any hassles. It can also give you the flexibility to position your RPU in the desired location.

I have created this plugin using WordPress 2.3.3. If you have successfully installed and used this plugin on any other version of WordPress, do let me know.

Details about installation and usage can be found in the Readme.txt file.

  1. Hi. I downloaded the plugin and tried it out on a WP 2.5.1 blog. It works OK, but the “box” looks just like a mini-malls box. Is that normal? I went to Chitika to look at the basic options for an RPU unit so I could compare it to what your plugin produced, and saw that the RPU units are no longer in the “get code” dopdown. Elsewhere it says “new, improved version coming soon”. Is that whty it doesn’t *look* like an RPU?

  2. Hi Walt!

I haven’t tried the plugin on wp 2.5.1 so can’t really say what could be the problem. Are you based in a non-supported country where they don’t serve RPU ads and instead show a placeholder eminimall ad? I am from a non-supported country and haven’t setup an alternate url so I just get a blank space. I also checked the Get Code drop down and Chitika RPU is really missing from there.

  3. I figured it out (I think).

I have a Chitika Premium block in my sidebar. As you (may or may not?) know, the premium ads don’t always display - according to Chitika they are behavior based.

Well, it seems that whenever the premium block displays, it somehow changes the RPU to a premium ad as well.

If I just click on view post from the manage posts area, I don’t get a premium ad, and the RPU displays like it should.

If I do a Google search for my site and click on a link from the search results, I generally get a premium ad, and the RPU magically changes into a premium ad as well.If I do a display source on the page, I see the RPU channel in the ad block, but that’s not what displays.

I doubt this has anything to do with your plugin. It seems to be a Chitika issue.

    Thanks for your help.
