Kontera Ads with Single-Underline

Kontera Ads with Single-UnderlineYou might already be familiar with Kontera, a popular in-text advertising service showing ads, similar to the one above, when the mouse is moved over text links marked with double-underlines. However, recently many sites have been displaying these links with a single-underline. If you are a blogger or website owner seeking to know how they do it, here is the secret.

Just add the following line to your Kontera javascript code.
var dc_single_line = 'yes';

This will definitely lead to higher click through rates (CTR) if the links on your site are single-underlined, as they blend along with the other links on your site. However, it might confuse your readers, who may not be able to distinguish between genuine links and ads without hovering the mouse over the links. Many readers who already consider in-text advertising as intrusive, may completely disapprove of this kind of blending.

WARNING: Please contact your Kontera account manager before you use this code or they may ban your Kontera account. Kontera may be allowing this only on websites where underlining is removed from links (using CSS), where single underlined ads would still stand out, and CTR should still be better!
